My romance with homeopathy began when I was about 3 years old, as I can remember. Most of my childhood was spent in northern India. During the summer holidays, we used to go down south to Kerala. At the same time, the monsoon also would arrive in Kerala, bringing heavy rain and a change in weather.
As a young girl, I enjoyed playing in the rain, which often resulted in getting sick with fever and other weather-induced illnesses. My grandparents would then invite our family homeopath for home treatment at that time. He would administer those sweet pills that fascinated me. Moreover, I had an excellent response to those sweet pills with the fever disappearing in no time. I was delighted because this doctor did not give me injections, as I used to be terrified of needles penetrating my tender body.
After some point, I would go out and play in the rain to just to fall sick and get more of those sweet pills.
While growing up, my granddad and our family homeopath influenced me a lot as we used to discuss homeopathy and the efficacy of the tiny white globules. Since my granddad was a great friend of this homeopath, the doctor helped to plant the desire in me to become a better homeopath. I have developed a passion for this exciting alternative medicine field, and I was fascinated by the philosophy of homeopathy as it made a lot of sense to me.
Homeopathy roots date back to Hippocrates in Greece, but its current development is credited to the German genius, Dr Samuel Hahnemann. He was a medical doctor himself. Disgusted with medical practice, he took up translating medical texts and began a quest for a better way to live a healthy life.
Qualifications
As Australia-based homeopath, Dr Jaya started her journey in India, where she got her degree in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery from A.H. Medical College, a world-renowned establishment in India. Later on, she joined the Central Research Institute of Homeopathy, Kurichy, and the Government Homeopathic Hospital in Calicut to receive training under the wing of different faculties. She also served as a lecturer at the well-known S.O.A.S college in Brunei and later established herself as a Homeopathic Consultant.
In 1990 Jaya migrated to Perth – the capital of Western Australia, where she became the owner of Jaya Homeopathic Centre and the Joondalup Asthma Clinic. She also joined several leading clinics in Perth as a Homeopathic consultant.
Dr Jaya was awarded an honorary N.D. in Australia after getting accreditation by the Australian National Therapists Board in Homoeopathy, Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine and Nutrition. She is also a Fellow of the Australian Natural Therapists Association.
Dr Jaya has served as a Senior Lecturer in Pathology, Medical Diagnosis and Homeopathy for over ten years at the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies.
